To hire a car, you must be 21 years old and have been driving for one year. Drivers under 25 years old may be penalised with additional charges.. An International Drivers License is highly recommended. Cars are not allowed into the following countries: Albania, Bosnia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine and to anywhere in Africa

  • Drive on the right (opposite of UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and other countries)
  • Spain allows 0.5 milligrams of alcohol per millilitre of blood.  Newly licenced drivers have limit of 0.1 mg/l l
  • Seat belts in both front and rear are obligatory
  • Speed Limit (town): 50/kph
  • Speed Limit (open road): 90/kph
  • Speed Limit (motorway): 120/kph
  • Speeding and other traffic offences are subject to on-the-spot fines.
  • Child seats are required for children to age 3; children under 12 may not sit in the front seat
